Clarisa Morales Roberts is a Consultant, Writer, Veteran, Burner, Traveler and Proud Mom
As a consultant I specialize in communications, infrastructure, administration and operations for creatives, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. I’m typically the person people call when they want to make things happen. I do jobs of all sizes and will even train you or your staff to do what I do.
When I was ten years old, I use to sit at my sister’s manual typewriter, willing myself to learn how to type, so I could become a writer. Since then, I’ve been a freelance news writer, a slam poet, a blogger, a grant writer, wordsmith, and a video story teller. The only other job I enjoyed as much as writing was being a soldier. I have a strong interest in increasing communication opportunities for women, people of color and the disenfranchised. I also now have a growing collection of manual typewriters.
I served for a total of nine years as a member of the United States Army and Army Reserve. My service took me to Vicenza Italy, Grafenwoehr Germany, Fort Hood Texas, Jefferson Barracks Missouri, Fort Knox Kentucky, Fort Bragg North Carolina and the Precidio of Monterey California. Being a soldier made me who I am today.
I coordinated Get Out The Vote drives, Computer Literacy Courses and Community Narrative Activities. For a time I was also actively involved in local politics.
My family started going to Burning Man in 2003, and I can honestly say the Playa has had a profound impact on how we live our lives. We strive to employ the Ten Principles in our daily lives as we traverse the Default World. I now also work the event as a member of the Gate, Perimeter & Exodus crew.
I love adventure. Thanks to time served in the U.S. Army, I had great opportunities for travel. I have lived in California, Texas, Italy, Illinois and Japan, and have traveled to Germany, Switzerland, England, the Azores, Canada, and multiple states in the continental United States. Currently I split my time between California, Japan and Black Rock City.
Of two delightfully snarky kids~
